Photo a Week, Things with Wings

Only in Texas! (I can say that because I grew up there!)
This is just too funny and I couldn't resist. I just got this in an email today. It's from a group of these structures (can you guess what it is?) being exhibited in Texas and I realized it fits the theme for this week perfectly, solving my dilemma over what to post!
I am late this week, partly because of the holiday, and mostly because I'm cranky. We are without air-conditioning (our central air bit the dust last week) and the temperatures are hovering just under and just over 90 degrees for the past several days. We've been promised a fix by this afternoon and I think my husband is grateful for that. Even coming from the hot dry climate in Texas, I still cannot tolerate heat! Oh, and to add to the stress, our two electric fans which were supposed to keep me from sweltering during the night are on the blink, too! Thank goodness for ceiling fans in other parts of the house!

Yep, that's a dunny which is what Aussies always referred to as the outdoor toilet! Great pic! lol

In summer here, we get regular temperatures of 100°F or over and we don't have an air-conditioner at all. The high humidity is the worst part of it. Believe me, I know what you're going through, Mary.

Serena, you've just given me yet one more reason to admire you! I don't know if I could live full time without air conditioning now and certainly not at 100 degrees or better. I grew up in Texas without it years ago, but I was a kid then and didn't know any different.

This is the best looking outhouse I've ever seen. I still wouldn't want to use it!

I don't like doing without the airconditioner either. My husband sets ours at 84 degrees and tells me to use the window one in my bedroom/craft room to supplement it. That means shutting myself into a room with or without the dogs and of course they keep wanting on the other side of the door just as I want also. I hate being closed in and my room air conditioner is not large enough to do the job either. I am an indoor person with my arts and crafts. He prefers to be outdoors. Well, at least you are getting your air back. I take it you'll be buying some new fans too!
