EDM #15
I have a talent! A talent for making simple things difficult! I pencilled thie drawing days ago and have been "waffling" over how I wanted to finish it. I couldn't seemt to get on with anything else until this was completed so I sat down today and started slapping paint on. I'm not overly thrilled with the way it turned out, and I don't know why the background looks slightly green. The seed pods are more yellow in the scan than the soft green they really are. But here they are, and now I can go on to something else!

This is beautifully done! I love your greens.
Wow MaryO this is beautiful! I don't know why you are not pleased with it but I find nothing wrong with it at all. I love the colour mixing of this painting.
This is delightful. I could see it illustrating a book. Is it Physalis (cape gooseberry)?
The final result is lovely! Funny explanation too - we all have so many things that we try to get ourselves free!
Thank you all for your kind comments! Gillian, to answer your question, it isn't cape gooseberry (I had to google that). It's a tree that was among those I was given when I joined the Audobon Society years ago, and we unfortunately did not keep the tag for it when we planted it. So now I call it one of our mystery trees.
This is wonderful! I haven't gotten to that challenge yet.... Thanks for visiting my blog. :) Marva
Mary O love your sketch of the pods and love those pods it looks like pods from a Golden Rain Tree..
You can take them to a garden center to be sure..
Jacque I do believe you've got it! I googled Golden Rain Tree and sure enough, that's what it is! Thank you my friend,I should have come to you first!!
You don't like it... whyever not?? Maybe when some time has passed you will see the lovely sketch I see. I see an accurate drawing, clean clear color, and some lovely wet-in-wet shading. I do believe I am jealous!
Mary....This is good!
Mary, it is a marvelous drawing! You would think so, too, if someone else had done it! LOL!
I like the greens you've mixed there! It does look related to the physalis.
Leaves are hard...I don't care what anyone else says...they are hard...but you did great.
Mary thank you for visiting my blog I'm glad you liked the photos. We are having a great time taking pictures here there is no shortage of interesting and unusual subjects. I enjoyed seeing your beautiful drawings and from the number of comments many others do also.
Thank you Mary O for your nice comments regarding my blog. I have enjoyed looking at yours also. Keep on creating.
Mary - I just sketched some of these also! I'm not sure what kind of tree it is, do you know? Thanks, Marva
Mary - Oh cool! They turn copper?!!! I'm definitely going to have to go swipe some more! What color do the leaves turn? Yellow or red? :) Marva
