Photo of the Week

Something New was the theme for this week and these were two of my Christmas gifts. Red Shoes from my daughter and her family, warm lightweight wool scarf from my son and his family. Both of which I am thrilled with! I've developed an obsession with red shoes lately and these are the brightest red shoes I've ever had, I love them! Won't they look great for spring?
I thought the scarf was lovely and decorative, but I had no idea how warm it would be. Our heat pump is having a difficult time keeping our house warm during this extreme weather we're having so I wore this scarf under a heavy sweater all day long yesterday and was warm as toast!

Now this is one of my frequent backyard visitors. On these cold snowy mornings he brings his whole family to breakfast on the birdseed I scatter. I've put up squirrel baffles so they can't get to the feeders, but I scatter plenty on the ground for the squirrels and the birds who ground feed. I love watching them vie for spaces at the "table".

I hate that you are so cold in your house. I hope it warms up soon for you. Since living in FL. I had forgotten how that cold gets down in your bones and you just can't warm up when the temps take a nose dive. This past couple of weeks have been a bitter reminder for me. Nothing worse than feeling cold.

Love those shoes and that gorgeous scarf. Can't wait to see a photo of you wearing the shoes this spring.

Bless your heart for taking care of the birds and squirrels. What a hard life they have in the cold winter months.

Your new shoes and scarf are beautiful, Mary! They also match well together. It's good that the scarf is already coming in handy for you though I'm feeling for you dealing with some bitter cold.

You are so caring to put out feed for the birds and squirrels. As Linda said, they would have a very difficult time of it in the winter months. Very cute pic of the squirrel.

I love your new red shoes, I don't think I own a pair, but would like to.
Scarves are my favorite accessories to ware. I have a large drawer full. It seems that they are coming back into style, not only for warmth, but for the look.

I wish I could see you in your scarf and shoes - you have so much style. That squirrel photo is delightful. I know they are pests, but they are so entertaining and CUTE.

Love your red shoes... I biggify-ed the photo and see very comfy insides too... as soft as slippers they look!

I love squirrels... even wrote a short story about one I used to consider "mine" ... I wonder where I put that story? ...hmmmm......

Great red shoes! This reminded me that I have some red tennis shoes somewhere in my closet I need to pull out and wear. Cute photo of the squirrel. Thanks for your encouragement by the way..

Who doesn't like red shoes, I had a pair of red Addidas tennis shoes for years. This winter has been tough on everyone, overall we have been pretty lucky. I just don't do well with the cold anymore. We may have to move to someplace where the temperature never gets below 70 degrees.
