I'm Late, I'm Late.....again

The theme for this Monday's (I know, it's Tuesday now) Photo a Week was "Something Mum/MOM" and although I had a lovely Mum/Mom and a sweet Mother's Day myself, here was my biggest surprise on Mother's Day. The bluebird eggs hatched and we have 5 little fuzzy bodies in there now! Mum/Mom and Dad are busily searching out insects and fat little worms to feed the babies and I'm having great fun watching the activity. I hope to get a photo of the babies before they get too active, but I don't like to open the nest box when it's cold and windy. Maybe tomorrow, if it doesn't rain all day.

I was wishing you would put up a photo of your bird family - I hope you don't think it's too silly, but I am really getting interested in their little saga. Best wishes to Mom and babies, and dad too. :-)

what perfect timing they have.... oooohh.... can hardly wait to see the babies. A beautiful pic of the Mom and Dad...

Our robins are in a juniper just outside the patio wall...but, so far I have not been brave enough to really rummage in the tree to find the nest. I did look...but, didn't want to upset anybody...so ... maybe only a bit halfheartedly.... now...I really want to see it .. with eggs or little fluffy things..I don't even know what stage they are at!

How exciting, Mary!! Will the Mum and Dad be okay with you opening the nest house? What a lovely photo and just perfect for Mother's Day!

Serena, the parent birds tolerate having the nest monitored, in fact it's recommended by the experts. There are so many things that can go wrong (predators, mainly) for these lovely little birds, and house sparrows, which are everywhere, are a major concern to them. So I get to peek in now and then, but not after the little ones get active enough to hop out when the box is opened.
