Photo a Day Jan. 14, 2009

I'm happy to see the cardinals back again today, after the episode with the hawk earlier. Only about half of them showed up this time, but that's probably just as well. I think the hawk is more likely to attack a large group where he has a better chance of a catch.
The photos aren't great because I had to shoot through my not-so-clean window!

Wow! You are getting some great bird photos! I'm amazed you can get photos that good through a window. All my windows have screens and that messes up any attempt to take pics thru the windows. That cardinal is beautiful, isn't it?

When we lived up north I know it was always a treat to look out in the winter and see the cardinals, that splash of color in an otherwise pretty colorless day.

I am so jealous. Your cardinals are gorgeous. Just like the ones I have been trying to get a pic of for a week or so. Haven't seen them in days, I think because all the feeders are under a lot of snow and they think there is no food.

I wish we would get cardinals out here. The closest to red we have our house finches.
