Photo a Day Jan. 17, 2009

I totally forgot to post a photo yesterday so today I'll post two. First is our toasty warm pellet stove that helps keep us comfy in the family room now. There are so many windows in this part of the house that the heat pump just can't get enough heat back here without making the rest of the house uncomfortable, so the stove has been a lifesaver. Not that we didn't love the open fireplace, but the heat all went up the chimney.
The second photo is of two little dolls I've had for many years, probably around 25 I would guess....long before I started making cloth dolls on my own. They're made of corn husks with little round wooden heads and wooly hair. I've always loved them.

I wish I were a kitty and could curl up in front of that stove for a nap -- very tempting idea right now!

Your fireplace looks very inviting. I remember what that felt like on a winter day.

Pellet stoves and fireplace inserts are the only way to go.... some much cleaner, easier and of course, as you say.. warmer cuz the heat stays in the house...

sweet little dollies...

Thanks everyone. Jacque, The old clock on the right belonged to Roy's mother and it does chime on the hour and half hour. The other clock was given to Roy on his 25th anniversary with IBM. He takes good care of both of them.

Well the fireplace made me feel toasty warm just looking at it, and with our temps the last few days that is some serious imagination going on there. Your cornhusk dolls are lovely and certainly don't look that old. I especially like the one with the little girl.

Fireplace looks very cozy and inviting. Is it your painting over the fireplace? Very nice!

Very nice dolls!

No, that's a painting, by Jean Brinton Jaecks, that Roy won at an auction several years ago. She's a very well known painter in the Annapolis area.
